Baker Mayfield was so pumped up through the Los Angeles Rams’ 17-16 comeback win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night that he delivered a crazy head butt through the victory.
A helmetless Mayfield was caught on video on the sidelines delivering an enormous head-butt to teammate Robert Rochell, who had his helmet on.
Rochell, a 24-year-old cornerback, took a step backward and put his hand on his helmet after the head-butt, apparently taken by surprise.
It was a formidable comeback for Mayfield. The 27-year-old quarterback led Los Angeles to 2 late fourth-quarter touchdowns, capped by a 23-yard scoring pass to Van Jefferson with 10 seconds left. Mayfield went 22 of 35 for 230 yards — and eventually snapped the defending Super Bowl champions’ six-game losing streak
“I don’t know when you could write it any higher than that,” Mayfield said. “Obviously, we’d prefer to be somewhat bit more stress-free, nevertheless it’s a reasonably rattling good story, I’ll be honest with you.”
Mayfield, 27, was waived by Carolina on Monday and claimed by the Rams on Tuesday.
The Rams, who haven’t had Matthew Stafford on the sphere since Week 11 due to quite a lot of ailments, at the moment are 4-9. The Raiders fell to 5-8. On Sunday Rams coach Sean McVay said Stafford likely can be sidelined for the rest of the season with a spinal cord contusion.
