Andy Cohen says interviewing Britney Spears within the midst of her “abusive” 13-year-long conservatorship was “creepy’ and “weird.”
During his SiriusXM show, “Andy Cohen Live,” on Wednesday, Cohen, 55, reminisced about meeting with Spears across the time of her “Glory” album release in 2016.
He claimed his industry friends warned him prior to meeting a few “woman who’s at Britney’s side in any respect times, and she or he mainly tells her what to do and where to go and it’s really creepy.’”
“And I get there and this woman was there and it was like Britney was her captive,” Cohen revealed.
The “Watch What Happens Live” host continued, “Now, Britney mentions her by name within the book rather a lot and the way much she hated her and I’m not going to say her name ’cause I don’t need to get sued, but it surely was really creepy.”
“[The woman was] Whispering in her ear before all the pieces and we’re sitting up there on stage with me and Britney and will.i.am and she or he comes up and says something in her ear and Britney’s like, ‘Mhm mhm.’”
Cohen also described a bizarre moment through the interaction when Spears’ team brought in a birthday cake for the pop icon despite the fact that she reminded them that her birthday happened a month ago.
“And I’m like, ‘What are they doing?’” Cohen remembered. “You recognize? And it was clearly for the cameras and it was just all so weird.”
The Post has contacted a rep for Spears for comment.
The “Stronger” singer’s conservatorship lasted from February 2008 to November 2021. She accused her father and certainly one of her conservators, Jamie Spears, of abuse during that point, alleging that he secretly spied on her using illegal surveillance.
Britney also claims she was forced on contraception and made to perform in Las Vegas through the conservatorship in addition to placed on lithium, which is mostly prescribed for bipolar disorder, and made her “feel drunk.”
