Air Canada announced on Wednesday it would be making reductions to its flight schedule in July and August to handle what it says are ongoing flight delays and airport congestions.

A total of 77 daily round trips will be cancelled during those summer months, amounting to 154 flights a day, with the majority being late night, domestic and trans-border flights operating on smaller aircraft. The majority fly out of Toronto and Montreal.

Air Canadas answer to having too many flights booked, is to cancel flights…?

  7. annieladysmith says:

Smaller aircraft cannot accommodate TWO pilots. The airlines do not have enough pilots. A flight cannot leave the tarmac without 2 pilots, the liability is just too great. Myocarditis, pericarditis, stroke, heart attack. The pilots have been decimated.

There's been no progress for a while. No one should be surprised about this and should have been prepared.
Taking your money and canceling shouldn't be surprising either. It's completely normal for govt and companies to wait until the last second.
New govt won't fix this. Deal with it.

Hey everyone, this is really bad news, Myself I travel between two points effected for my job.
The problem is deeper than the airlines abilities.
Canada we have so many problems in so many areas of our daily lives, we need to look for a different way of how the countries affairs are handled!
The arrogance of our federal governments inability to solve problems while the pander to the elites need to change. The current federal and some provincial governments needs to be replaced from our democratic election process, they have failed us in so many ways! Sooner the better!!!

  32. THE T-REXXX says:

The reason they are doing this is to have full planes and less flights to help reduce fuel prices. They should cut flights 60%!! This would help greatly in super spreading of covid etc, cut emissions greatly and air would clean up!! The reduction in fuel consumption would help cut prices too.

WHO WUD want to work in the airline industry when they pay u minimum wage, split shifts, split days off, graveyard shifts, no guarantee hours, only two weeks vacation, get it from incompetent managements an irate passengers, and is the first to get affected if there was ever a slowdown in the economy as proven with C0VID 19! Run away as fast as you can from this sector!

Way to go, cancel those flights!! It's about time big businesses start standing up to the Federal Government! Federal Government doesn't want to drop Federal Mandates and get people back to work, businesses need to keep cancelling services. Don't give them any revenue streams! People that work on the tar mats and the service people are still not back at work over Federal Mandates, so keep cancelling the flights!! Same goes for postal workers, stop services and start suing!! More companies need to start taking a stand against this Federal Government. Maybe if more companies, such as, CNRL get sued by over 80+ employees over Vaccs policies, we will see momentum in moving forward! Time to start suing cities, municipalities, governments, Health Institutions..heck sue everyone that still has Vaccs policies in place. Governments will only budge if they are sued…class action lawsuits are what are in the future…

Yeah but American airports are doing better. And if we do away with these silly restrictions, that would help immensely, but the only way to accomplish that is to get rid of this moronic government

  46. Lord Kiltridge says:

If they don't have the staff, crew, or aircraft, they must cancel the flights. The airports can't handle the crowds either. It's long overdue.
