Brazil nuts are one of the most sustainable nuts. They’re not grown on farms. They’re collected in the rainforest after they drop naturally off wild trees. While the nuts support Indigenous tribes’ livelihoods, collectors have a tough job. They have to hike deep into the jungle, avoiding deadly falling nuts and wildlife, all to haul 100-pound loads back out. And now their industry is at risk because of low prices for their nuts and illegal clear-cutting of the rainforest. We visit the Apiaká tribe in Mato Grosso, Brazil, to see how they’re using Brazil nuts as a weapon against deforestation.
Editor’s Note: At 0:37, 4:06, and 4:59, this video incorrectly used tons instead of kilos as a unit of measurement. At 6:11, this video also incorrectly stated that Brazil nuts are one of the cheapest nuts. Insider regrets the errors.

Please don't eat this nut. It fast tracks ageing. You will get wrinkles in less than a week and it takes a long time to reverse that. Please stay away from this Brazilian nut. If you still want to argue, you are more than welcome to experiment on yourself.
I see why Brazil nuts are so expensive here in Korea.

Marketing is KEY!! It wasn’t until recently that I knew how much of a Superfood this nut was! They should market it as a SuperFood with nutritional info on the package and advertising ! The marketing could be specified to infertility clinics – as it helps in that area… or people with thyroid issues … etc.
Thank you for the is video. It was enlightening!😊
"one of these things falls on your head, you're dead…." …. Hardhats are about the cheapest PPE in the world… can't tell me you don't have them in that region, I've seen lots of construction from around the world, buy a damn hart hat instead of telling us how dangerous it is…

Oh wow! I did not know that all Brazil nuts were hand picked! That explains why there’s only like 2 or 3 nuts in the thing
I used to think I was doing a negative thing by buying Brazil nuts. Now I see I’m helping a industry and community and a forest. I hope the Amazon continues to prosper for centuries to come
The Amazon should never have been allowed to belong to any country. It should have been international territory under the United Nations protection.
