George Kittle appeared to enjoy some turkey during his postgame interview Thursday night, after which he made sure to grab enough — or, really, all the turkey — in order that some 49ers fans who traveled to Lumen Field in Seattle could enjoy it, too.
Kittle, who caught three passes for 19 yards within the 49ers’ 31-13 win, sprinted away from his interview with Melissa Stark while holding the turkey platter and ended up near the tunnel by the locker room, where he threw a leg from the platter toward a cluster of fans.
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel tossed a turkey leg into the stands, too.
Each players played pivotal roles because the 49ers earned their third consecutive win and picked up a key NFC West victory — they now lead the Seahawks by two games, with another meeting between the teams Dec. 10 — to maneuver to 8-3, while running back Christian McCaffrey accounted for 139 total yards and two touchdowns.
“That was a satisfying turkey,” McCaffrey said after the 49ers’ win.
Seattle’s offense struggled to generate any points against the 49ers defense, and quarterback Geno Smith, who entered the sport coping with a shoulder injury that was serious enough to make his gameday status uncertain, only threw for 180 yards and an interception.
The Seahawks also only rushed for 88 yards with starting running back Kenneth Walker out as a result of an oblique strain.
That allowed the 49ers to dominate and prevented the Seattle offense from maintaining, and that sparked the postgame turkey celebration on the sphere — with the formal turkey platter and interview, after which the unscripted one where Kittle snagged as many leftovers as he could.
“Have a look at this guy, he’s got the entire bird,” NBC play-by-play broadcaster Mike Tirico said. “He’s on the move.”
Kittle and the 49ers face the Eagles — the one team ahead of them within the NFC at 9-1 — next weekend, while the Seahawks, after losing for the third time in 4 games, travel to Dallas for a Thursday night game next week.
