The Yankees are bringing back a late-season flier from 2023 for more starting pitching depth in 2024.
The club is in agreement with right-hander Luke Weaver on a one-year, $2 million contract, The Post’s Jon Heyman confirmed on Thursday.
The deal features a club option for 2025 with a $2.5 million base salary, though Weaver could earn as much as $6 million based on what number of innings he throws in 2024.

While the Yankees proceed to pursue a high-end starter to fill out their rotation, Weaver should provide some much-needed depth.
The 30-year-old joined the Yankees last September after being claimed off waivers from the Mariners.
He made three starts before the top of the season, allowing five earned runs across 13 â…“ innings while striking out 16.Â

Weaver threw 132 â…” innings in 2023 (123 â…” within the majors), which supplies him a solid foundation to construct on in 2024.
Across parts of eight seasons in the large leagues, Weaver owns a 5.14 ERA.
