The Jets will see a well-known face on Sunday when Sam Darnold lines up at quarterback for the Vikings in London.
It has been three years for the reason that Jets decided to trade Darnold after just three seasons with the team. General manager Joe Douglas faced an enormous decision in 2021 about whether to keep on with Darnold or draft a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick.
Three years later, the choice to trade Darnold is difficult to guage. But let’s try.
The straightforward thing to do is say the Jets screwed up based on Darnold’s hot begin to this season. The Vikings are 4-0, and Darnold has a league-best 11 touchdowns. The Jets, in fact, drafted Zach Wilson with that No. 2 pick, and he’s currently holding a clipboard in Denver.
