Meet parents who’ve splashed out $70,000 on a five-month cruise around the globe for his or her entire family.
Mark Baker, 40, and his wife, Tiffany, 39, decided to tug their daughters — Giuletta, 10, Penelope, 8, and Delia, 7 — out of faculty and embark on the journey of a lifetime.
The cruise ship will call at 52 ports in 21 countries – including South Africa, Madagascar and Argentina – across five different continents.
The pair are homeschooling their children and dealing remotely while they’re onboard the ship – which set off from Marseilles, France, on Jan. 6.
They’ve been on the cruise for 16 days but have already travelled to Spain, Morocco, and Cape Verde. They’re currently in South America visiting Brazil.
Tiffany and Mark have spent a whopping $70,000 for 2 bedrooms on the ship – and say the fee includes activities on board, food and drinks – they usually’ve also given themselves a $10,000 spending allowance.
Mark says the family are within the “honeymoon period” of the cruise they usually are already taking a look at booking one other trip in 2026.
Mark, an actual estate investor and distant travel adviser, from Terre Haute, Indiana, US, said: “We’re loving it a lot already.
“It’s 4 months, you don’t must clean, do laundry, or do a food shop.
“Now we have a roof over our head and we’re traveling to all these incredible destinations on this beautiful ship.”
“Our family just isn’t on vacation, we’ve got moved onto a cruise ship,” Tiffany, an actual estate investor and distant travel adviser, added.
“It’s not like everyone seems to be partying for one week — we reside on a cruise ship for 4 months.
“It’s important, as a family unit, to have this family time for our family — this just isn’t a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
“I hope that is the primary of many.”
On Dec. 30, 2024, the family travelled to Marseilles, France, where the cruise set off from on Jan. 6, 2025.
They’ve been on the cruise for 11 days but have been to Spain, Morocco and Cape Verde and are on their way across the Atlantic.
Tiffany said: “Once we left Spain we realized every country until Cape Town can be latest to our family.
“It’s so exciting that we get to do that as a family, all together, from this point forward we’re exploring together.”
Mark and Tiffany said their daughters are having fun with life on the cruise and as a family, they’re specializing in “interest-based learning”.
Mark said: “They’re loving it, one other cost we don’t must worry about is childcare.
“There may be a kids club on the ship that enables them to attach with other kids on board.
“As we were gearing to tug our daughters out of faculty, we spoke to quite a lot of families about their approach.
“They spoke about interest-based learning, finding what our daughters enjoy and leaning into that and supporting them.
“That’s what we’ve got been doing.”
While they’re on the cruise, Tiffany and Mark have a property manager taking care of their property portfolio.
Tiffany says she’s sick of the words “work-life balance” and needs to deal with having a life balance.
She said: “I just wish to live life, I would like a balanced life – that’s my primary focus.
“Togetherness is our primary goal on the cruise, we play games on a regular basis, we’re reading books and spending plenty of quality time together.”
