An uncle officiating his niece’s wedding pranked the bride by giving the groom a strict last-minute talking – knowing the scene can be captured on the marriage video.
Dani Hatten, 28, selected her uncle and best friend Jerry Roxas, 57, to officiate her wedding in Santa Ynez, California, last October.
Jerry seized the chance to play a prank on Dani and enlisted the assistance of the groom Ryan Hatten, 27.
The 2 concocted the prank which consisted of Jerry giving Ryan a last-minute lecture, threatening extensive bodily harm should he hurt Dani.
Dani, completely unaware of what had happened, only discovered when watching back her wedding video.
Dani, a nurse practitioner based in Delray Beach, Florida, said: “It was so hilarious and so characteristic of them each.
“Anyone that knows me, my husband and my uncle knows that we love dry humor and I used to be cracking up after I watched the clip for the primary time.
“My uncle is a photographer and videographer and he knew that he can be mic’d up in the course of the whole ceremony so he wanted me and Ryan to have something to look back at and laugh at from our wedding day.
“We couldn’t stop laughing after we finally got our wedding albums back.”
Ryan and Dani met three and a half years ago in a bar in a Nashville, Tennessee, and as their relationship developed so did Ryan’s friendship with Jerry.
Dani said: “”It makes me so blissful that my husband and my uncle have the kind of relationship where they will banter with one another.
“My relationship with my uncle is more like a best-friendship than anything.
“I can tell him anything and he has been a relentless support system for me and Ryan.
“We wanted Uncle Jerry to officiate because he’s such an influential and positive light in our lives.”
