If you happen to’re seeking to book a novel summer vacation — nothing screams “fun” like lodging in a spot that is formed like a boot.
Yes, a boot.
The Haines Shoe Home is a rental home situated in York, Pennsylvania, and is barely a three-hour drive from NYC.
It was originally in-built 1948 by “the show wizard” Mahlon Haines, in line with SWNS.
When Haines first built the home, he intended to make use of the quirky shoe-shaped home to advertise his shoe stores.
He figured that by making it a tourist attraction, it will stop people of their tracks and hopefully cause them to his stores.
Nowadays, tourists travel from throughout to do exactly that — they either book a stay within the 48-foot-long historic house or drive through PA to take pictures outside this bizarre yet charming home.
Waylon and Naomi Brown bought the unique home in 2022 and gave it a “light renovation and improvement.”
Before the couple bought it, the historic landmark was used as a museum after which an ice cream shop.
“…the previous use as an ice cream shop didn’t generate enough profits to maintain it going, so I knew the business model needed to vary,” Naomi told SWNS.
After giving the house a little bit TLC, the Browns listed it on Airbnb — and the remaining is history.
“They [guests] love the Shoe House! It’s such a fun and unique experience. The property is fun to explore and so special!” the owner told the outlet.
The house is 1,500 square feet and is complete with three bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a living space and a kitchen area, in line with the home’s website.
Outside, guests can hang around across the outdoor fire pit, loosen up in the new tub or enjoy some fresh air on the lovable picnic area.
Rates per night range between $500-$650 — depending on the length of stay and time of yr a guest books for.
The Shoe House’s listing has a 4.3-star rating — with guests raving about it.
