Ban the ASSAULT WEAPONS in AMERICA and legal age to get a gun let it be 21 years old.

Let there be restrictions as well and inspections on gun storage because of children.

So sad about PM Abe. We in the US have watched hate beget hate, grow and mount since Trump's reign in office. Our lack of action is appalling, and the GOP ought to be ashamed of themselves for forcing it to continue. I hope the Japanese can stop this in its tracks. Once it gets going it snowballs. Peace and love everyone.

is anyone really surprised? evil begets evil. abe's arrogance and vision for a fascist remilitarized japan (not to mention endless corruption scandals) became too intolerable for many peace-minded japanese. the world sees him as a 'global leader'… but inside japan, he was despised, and for valid reasons. his constant unrepentant wwii attitude (yasukuni shrine, etc.) and insults toward china/korea didn't help either, causing japanese to lose many opportunities. now the ghosts of the 50 million innocent chinese/korean/asian victims of japan's brutal invasion (that abe had more or less immorally defended many times) await his arrival on the other side.

Don't bother with gun regulations; when a bad guy wants a gun, he/she will find ways to have one. Best advice is "armed yourself"

Japan will ban all guns now and I agree with them…The reason why they have 0.5 percent gun deaths is because they have a population of SANE people. No extremists, white supremacists, Gang bangers, drug dealers, lunatics, MAGA sycophants. No kids or 18 year olds with access to military weapons..Guess who they will blame the shooting on…….The person who did the shooting. Not a political party, not mental health. They approved a gun permit to a man that shouldn't have had ome.one.….Japan, one of the safest places in the world to live..

I think this media is a bit biased. What is "more unapologetic stance"? For all the bad conducts during the WWII, Japan frequently apologized in many occasions and paid huge amount of economic compensation. I wonder whether the victory countries have ever apologized for their brutal conducts during the war, like killing mass of innocent civilians. The worsened relationship with Korea is due to the Korean government abandonment of the past agreement between tow countries and frequent claims of anti-Japanese slogans have made Japanese people get tired. And the worsened relationship with China is not only Japanese phenomena but the US, Australia and India have worsened their relation with China due to its military expansion and threats to surrounding countries. Now Europeans and NATO also show cautious stance against China.
