Layovers will be grueling — especially amid Federal Aviation Administration woes brought on by the federal government shutdown — leading countless travelers toward the closest airport bar to assist take the sting off flying.

A study by Upgraded Points found which hub makes it easiest to drink by analyzing 50 of the biggest U.S. airports’ individual web sites and Google Reviews — and one Latest York-based airport made the highest 10 while the opposite two were in the underside five.

The rating was based on three aspects: concentration (bars and restaurants serving alcohol per square mile), accessibility (bars and restaurants serving alcohol per 10,000 every day passengers), and quality (average star rating of alcohol-serving venues).

Coming in first place was Boston’s Logan International Airport (BOS) with a complete rating of 75.1 out of 100 possible points. The airport ranks above average in all three categories, especially bar density with 10.2 alcohol-serving venues per square mile, which is about 116% greater than average.

Nashville International Airport (BNA) took the second spot with 72.4 points. The Music City airport has the third-highest bar-to-passenger ratio within the study — 76% greater than the common. Travel experts noted that BNA “offers a bar scene that rivals downtown Nashville.”

In third was Kansas City International Airport (MCI) with a rating of 68.6 and earning the study’s highest average Google rating for alcohol-serving venues with 4.16 out of 5 stars. This airport also leads the study in bar accessibility, with 5.6 venues per 10,000 passengers.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) ranked fourth overall within the study and second for bar density, with 13.9 alcohol-serving venues per square mile — nearly triple the study average of 4.7.

Louis Armstrong Latest Orleans International Airport rounds up the highest 5, with the airport bars getting a median star rating of 4.01 — higher than the study average of three.71. The Latest Orleans airport has 37% more alcohol-serving venues than the common of two.7.

The remaining of the highest 10 includes Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP), San Diego International Airport (SAN), Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Harry Reid International Airport (LAS).

While LaGuardia could have are available in ninth place, it ranked in the highest spot for bars per square mile (20.4), intensified by the nearly $8 billion in renovations and terminal upgrades complete with wine bars and pubs.

Meanwhile, Latest York City’s other two major airports — John F. Kennedy International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport — got here in forty sixth and forty seventh place, making them two of the five worst airports for an alcohol-filled layover.

JFK could also be one among the busiest airports on this planet, however the drinking scene is “surprisingly underwhelming,” requiring long walks between bars and navigating through large crowds which makes it harder than it ought to be to grab a drink.

Newark received the the bottom star rating of alcohol-serving venues within the study (2.84 stars), rounding out the underside five airports for a pre-flight drink.
