Whether you’re a sneakerhead or just someone who likes versatile footwear, you’ve heard about these shoes.

After we did our first Cariuma review, the sneaker brand had gone viral. It seemed as if people all over the place (including celebrities) loved them for his or her comfort, eco-friendly construction and magnificence.

Sophie Cannon, who first wrote about them for The Post, wore the brand’s Salvas to the Amazon Rainforest and loved every mile they took her. In truth, she continued to wear them when she returned to Brooklyn.

Naturally, I couldn’t consider anyone higher to assist me test out another Cariuma sneakers. Together, we enlisted Decider/NYP Author and Reporter Angela Tricarico to check out a few of the brand’s other models to see how they held up on the mean streets of NYC.

Keep reading to learn our thoughts on each or jump below to learn more in regards to the brand and why it’s so popular.

Our Cariuma Sneakers Review:

Cariuma Slip-On Off White Canvas

Cariuma

Pros:

  • Timeless style that goes with the whole lot
  • Comfortable insoles
  • Great number of color options

Cons:

  • These run a bit smaller than Cariuma sneakers with laces

When you can’t be bothered with laces, ease your feet into this slip-on style sneaker. Designed to mimic a classic skater shoe, they’ve a natural rubber outsole and an organic cotton upper for breathability. They’re comfortable, cute, and are available a wide range of other styles and materials.

Recent York Post Review: “I’ve never been a slip-on sneaker person (despite a deep teenage love for Vans), but I am a Cariuma person, so I gave the brand’s slip-ons a shot — and I’m comfortable to say they’ve convinced me on the style!” said Tricarico. “Perfect to decorate up or down, the white canvas slip-ons from Cariuma have the right clean silhouette, and I’m all the time comfortable to slip them on whether I’m commuting to work or running an errand within the neighborhood.”

“Cariuma’s shoes have long been a favourite of mine, partially due to their sculpted memory foam insole, which keeps its shape nicely, even after weeks of wear and tear. The slip-ons aren’t any exception to that for the reason that brand uses the identical insoles,” Tricarico added.

Cariuma Premium Leather Valley Sneakers

A white and pink Cariuma Sneaker
Cariuma

Pros:

  • Made with consciously sourced leather from LWG-certified tanneries
  • Slip-resistant rubber bottoms
  • Fully stitched outsole

Cons:

  • The return policy (60-days, and shoes have to be unwashed and unworn) isn’t our favourite

When you’re purchasing for a classic skater shoe or are simply nostalgic for the ’90s, these should make you smile. They’re comfortable and supportive, because of their bio-based foam and cork insoles, and their LWG-certified leather top is sturdy enough to take you thru many walks or alley-oops — sorry, I couldn’t resist throwing in some skater lingo.

Cannon gave the sneakers a whirl around NYC. Here’s what she needed to say:

Recent York Post Review: “Hello Zumies? Cariuma called and so they have an elevated throwback style it’s worthwhile to see. After I got the brand new Premium Leather Valley Sneakers, I immediately considered the early aughts with their black and white color-blocking style,” Cannon said. “After I slipped them on and went for a stroll, I enjoyed their comfortable insole, breathable construction and nod to the planet with their eco-conscious materials and give-back practices.”

“Cariuma shoes have all the time been my go-to right out of the box, as they take little to no time breaking in and are immediately ready to wear down and about. In truth, right after purchase, I wore these for a full day within the office and around Recent York City. No blisters, no sore soles,” Cannon said. “The basketball silhouette can also be quite comfortable with higher sides and backs than my beloved Salvas. They make me feel much more secure when walking or jogging about in these sneakers.”

Cariuma NAIOCA PRO

A black sneaker from Cariuma.
Cariuma

Pros:

  • Low profile
  • Thick bottoms
  • Lightweight but durable

Recent York Post Review: “Truth be told, I generally only reach for sneakers after I’m going for a run. Nevertheless, I actually like how a pair of white ones that look good with a dress, so I’ve opened up my shoe wardrobe to incorporate them.

Back within the late ’90s and early 2000s, I wore skater shoes, but mainly Adidas or Vans. I used to be more excited about style in the times. Okay, I’m still very excited about style. I’m just also excited about comfort too, because there’s nothing casual in regards to the way I walk down the block and I want something cute and cushy to support my bony feet.

I discovered the NAICO PRO sneakers on the heavy side but I did like how the fit really supported the back of my heels and ankles. The insole has the identical bio-based foam and cork that the premium leather Valley sneakers have. Nevertheless, I used to be hoping for something a smidge softer. I wasn’t expecting them to be as pliable as a running shoe, but I still hoped they’d have more shock absorption. For the common person, I feel they’d work. Nevertheless, I personally need something more cushy but they’re supportive enough for casual wear.

I typically wear a size 7, but found that these didn’t give me enough room within the toe box. For this reason, I’d strongly suggest sizing up at the very least half a size. I do love the slip-resistant rubber bottom — ideal for pounding over slick pavement and subway stairs.

While the NAICO PROs should not my favorite within the Cariuma collection, they’re not bad shoes, and Tricarico and Cannon loved the pairs they tested out.

And naturally, there’s greater than where that got here from, because as Cannon already mentioned, she’s a fan of the brand, as her original review of the Salvas illustrates.”

Cariuma Salvas

Cariuma

Pros:

  • Cushioned heel
  • Remain comfortable, even after hours of walking around

The Salvas are the right shoe for on a regular basis adventures, dressing up an informal outfit or dressing down a summer dress or slacks. Recent York Post Review: “I’m an enormous fan of white sneakers and am an on-the-go girl, so keeping my shoes looking spiffy and white is difficult. Because of this I normally go for leather over canvas — although I also love my Pantone OCA Low sneakers,” said Cannon.

“For this trip, I packed my Salvas, the brand’s more substantial leather sneaker option. Since I could be walking (and running) through many airports, walking through the streets of Rio de Janeiro and ultimately mountaineering through the Brazilian Amazon, I wanted one of the best for an extended, varied journey.

Regarding comfort, I rate the Salvas 10/10. I occur to have wide feet with almost no arch, and these sneakers supported my every step. They’re manufactured from soft leather that molds to your foot, allowing for the swelling that travel and warmth often bring.

So far as style, a white shoe matches the whole lot. When packing for any trip, I only attempt to bring the necessities and pack a capsule wardrobe where the whole lot can mix and match, so the white and black version was my perfect pair.

My favorite a part of wearing the shoes is how durable and simple to scrub they’re. While I stayed clean and dry most of my trip, my tour into the Amazon was removed from it. Once I got off the canoe to begin mountaineering the rainforest, the guide even commented that white shoes were a silly alternative.

Fast-forward two hours and an impromptu rainstorm (it’s the rainforest, in spite of everything), I used to be pretty dirty from head to toe. That’s until I got back within the boat and gave them a wipe down. Almost the entire dirt got here off immediately, and I easily scrubbed off the remaining on the journey home.”

How We Tested

We chosen multiple pairs of Cariuma sneakers to check for this review. Our lab? The streets of Recent York. Each of us wore our perspective sneakers in Midtown for several weeks while we did typical activities. We went to the office, hustled to run errands during our break, and wore the shoes to comfortable hours, plays and grocery shopping. Some things we kept in mind were the next:

  • Fit & Feel: Sneakers are supposed to be comfortable, so we were honest with ourselves regarding whether these shoes felt cozy or like a torture chamber for feet. Cannon and Tricarico were impressed with the fit and overall feel of their sneakers, while I learned (too late), I must have sized up.
  • Durability: We judged how well the shoes held up over time, examining the tread for typical wear and tear. We also bent, pressed and tried to contort the shoes manually to see how well they held up. We were impressed with our general findings and declared them fairly sturdy for the standard user.
  • Price: Finally, we checked out the asking price of every sneaker. Traditional, high-quality sneakers start around $85, so Cariuma’s pricing was not surprising. In truth, after we considered its materials and sourcing practices, we found them to be on the budget-friendly side, as similar brands would mark up the value for these features.
