Sinéad O’Connor’s stays have been returned to her family following her tragic death last week on the age of 56, in line with a recent report.
John Thompson, the clerk of the London Inner South district for Southwark Coroners Court, confirmed to the Irish Times on Thursday that an autopsy of O’Connor was accomplished before her stays were released to her family.
Nevertheless, her autopsy report is probably not ready “for some weeks,” Thompson told the outlet.
Details can be disclosed to the general public only “if an inquest is opened into her death,” per the Irish Times.
Her July 26 death just isn’t being treated as suspicious.
“It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad,” the family of the “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer said in an announcement last week. “Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”

Three years after her debut, she became a household name with a rendition of “Nothing Compares 2 U” — an influence ballad written by Prince.
