As the historic flood waters pull back in Eastern Kentucky, the death toll climbs with at least 25 confirmed dead, including four children, all siblings. Rescue crews are out in search for survivors as thousands still have no power, and though cellphone reception improves, many will likely go days without clean drinking water. FEMA says 18 trailers filled with clean water are on the way.

floods, drought, pests….it's why you want a big, unified country that has options for energy, food, water.

we'd be utter idiots to let political, religious zealots split the country into feuding little pisant lordships.

I want to thank all the reverse MAGA commentors…the extreme left offering up opinions and generalization that all Kentuckians are Republican, MAGA, McConnel, Paul supporters, climate change denying, etc. You're doing a wonderful job being the exact same as MAGA, only not…stay classy folks.

FYI, voted for Biden. You people are doing a great job turning off voters that think both extremes are full of it…as if I should expect anything different.

This news style is really bad. Say 2 words for dramatic effect and switch to another screen. Ask someone 1 quick question, switch screens. Let’s be more humane NBC.

  5. Doug Epling says:

Praying can't hurt! But it is disingenuous to reference God or Mother Nature. The cause of this tragedy is human industrialization. Every human should feel guilty because our species has brought this upon these good people. If you want to feel sorry for someone, morn not the loss of a couple of innocent children, feel sorry for every child on the planet for which this kind of thing is only the beginning.

This is what these anti-abortion, a word NOT in the KKKible, catastrophic-runaway-anthropogenic-global-warming-denying, Statan-worshiping-EVILgelicals deserve for voting for Massacre Mitch McConnell. I hope they loose everything and never recover! These w h i t e skinned, Republican RepubliKKKgun things deny science, facts, and truth that it finds inconvenient.

Whoever you vote for in 2024, whatever your issues, if global heating isn't top of your concerns, it doesn't matter because it will put itself top.

It's too late to prevent the impacts of global heating, it's now about climate adaption. I would vote for the person who puts that ahead of the agenda, because virtually everything will come secondary to its affects, other than one: education. That's the best weapon for preparation across the generations.

    ————————————-
DONALD TRUMP QUOTES ON CLIMATE CHANGE/GLOBAL WARMING

“We support your effort to ensure meaningful and effective measures to control climate change, an immediate challenge facing the United States and the world today,” declared the letter, which was signed by dozens of business leaders and published as an ad in the New York Times. “If we fail to act now, it is scientifically irrefutable that there will be catastrophic and irreversible consequences for humanity and our planet.”

"The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive."

"Ice storm rolls from Texas to Tennessee – I’m in Los Angeles and it’s freezing. Global warming is a total, and very expensive, hoax!"

“When I hear Obama saying that climate change is the No. 1 problem, it is just madness.”

“A lot of it’s a hoax,” and “I want to use hair spray.”

“stop all payments of US tax dollars to UN global warming programs.”

“There is a cooling and there is a heating, and I mean, look: It used to not be climate change. It used to be global warming…That wasn’t working too well, because it was getting too cold all over the place.”

“We have plenty of water to fight these wildfires, but let’s be clear: It’s our changing climate that is leading to more severe and destructive fires.”

    “I don’t think it’s a hoax…But I don’t know that it’s manmade.”

These small towns need better flood control. Better Infastructure. Stop helping Ukraine and start helping your own citizens. Biden needs to step aside and let the grownups handle this.
