Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, a Democratic Congressman in Texas got here out swinging against his Republican opponent Rep. Mayra Flores, attacking the freshman female lawmaker in sharply misogynistic terms — claiming she will’t “speak” for herself.

“We’re gonna ward off on these outside resources coming here picking a candidate, a hand-picked candidate that may’t think for herself, can’t speak for herself, can’t act for herself, can’t vote for herself,” Gonzalez, 55, told his supporters Wednesday during a get out the vote drive on the La Sierra Event Center in Harlingen, Fox News reported.

The 2 incumbent members of Congress are facing off in consequence of redistricting within the Lone Star state’s recent thirty fourth district which snakes south from San Antonio to the border of Mexico.

Flores, 36, joined Congress after winning a special election earlier this 12 months.

Flores told The Post Saturday that “entitled liberals like Vicente Gonzalez simply refuse to simply accept that not all Hispanics imagine like they need us to.”

“So as an alternative of telling voters what they stand for and letting the very best ideas prevails, Gonzalez and his friends resort to those disgusting personal attacks. The people of South Texas deserve higher. We’re people of strong faith, strong family values and powerful work ethic.”

She is one among a rising generation of Latino and Latina Republicans which the party hopes will play a job helping them retake the House within the approaching midterm elections.
