Released police body camera footage now shows the events leading up to the death of Brianna Grier. Her family says the mother of twins was diagnosed with schizophrenia and had been arrested during what her family says was a mental health emergency. The 28-year-old Georgia resident died July 21st, just days after falling out of a moving police car and after slipping into a coma. The investigators concluded the rear passenger side door was opened by one of the officers but was never closed.

If you call for help for a mentally sick person and instead of a medical team, cops who don’t have any knowledge of how to deal with them comes and the cops actions escalates the stress and tension can you decline for them to take the person experiencing the crisis?

Seems the cops were trying to be as nice as they could by restraining her hands in front. No good deed goes unpunished. The video from inside is probably going to show her screaming like a banshee kicking and flailing at the door until she got it open and threw herself out the moving vehicle. And why is it the family that cries for help and when it goes wrong wants the world to bend to their will and sue anybody that had the misfortune of getting the call? There was a reason you called for help instead of handling it yourself.

I'm not understanding why if it was in lieu of a mental health crisis why wasn't there a ambulance there with the police when they got to the house??? The parents just called the police and then did what shut the door and went to sleep? My mom would rather hit me with a sleeper than call the police on me, but my mom would've stayed with me and them police. They set up the roadside scene to make it look like she jumped!!! They killed her.

My family member too. And the cops have locked him up in a mental health jail in Milledgeville 4.5 years and he's never been charged. They just called it breaking probation because he was off his meds walking up the road in just shorts in February. It looked odd so a Karen called it in. Some land of the free.
