He's right about the history but only mentions the deficits on the Western side and not the rise of a totalitarian state under Putin who is a both a cleptokrat and dictator. The US has done a lot of bad things foreign policy wise. The thing is no one can use past events as justification for aggression, or else IT NEVER STOPS! Iraq, and particularly Vietnam, were both horrendous on our part. But that doesn't mean the US should have backed out on our obligation to defend South Korean during the Korean War, or that more innocent people should die to justify Putin's paranoia of NATO. Or that innocent people in Taiwan should die to satisfy the strategic military posturing of super powers. Russia was an ally and was largely responsible for defeating Hitler, but that doesn't give credibility to current decisions. The US also supplied the USSR with lots of equipment and weaponry prior to our entrance into the war. If innocent people are to stop dying in conflicts people simply need to chose to value human life over power. That's it. It's that simple.

Sadly I lost respect for Waters after this half assed comment as he left out one crucial fact… Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 that sparked far right nationalism in those areas of occupation – that's a big chunk of information to omit when making statements about a war riddled with war crimes and human misery
If this is an example of a Smerconish "interview", I wouldn't watch another. I was at Roger's show last night and he very fairly painted ALL of the "War Criminals" with their crimes on the video screens. But Michael wouldn't even let Roger talk; that's not an "interview". Typical A**hole with his pre-decided opinions.
