The Philippines cannot sensibly host the US military while it is economically impoverished. It is grossly inappropriate. There needs to be an economic commitment by the US in addition to hosting the US military. Past experience with Subic Bay showed the ugly truth of impoverished Filipinos selling their dignity to US soldiers. It's a disgrace.
