A former “Neighbors” star pregnant together with her stepbrother’s baby has responded to critics of her controversial relationship.
Scarlet Vas, who had a temporary stint on the favored soap opera before leaving in 2018, has opened up about her marriage to singer Tayo Ricci.
The pair met as teenagers while growing up in Melbourne, and later became “family” when their parents got together.
But despite becoming stepsiblings, Vas and Ricci found themselves falling in love, eventually occurring to get married in Mykonos, Greece, in September last 12 months.
Now the 29-year-old is expecting their first child, a little bit girl, but while they’re excitedly preparing for her arrival – the bundle of joy has attracted criticism from some online.
But Vas said, despite some calling their relationship “weird” and “gross,” they never let the critics get to them.
“Truthfully, it doesn’t affect us because we’ve one another,” she told news.com.au.
“I don’t really read our comments section, but when I do, I actually laugh. We discover trolls very entertaining.
“If something’s really negative, we would comment back, we discover it is kind of a great disarming tactic.”
The pair first went viral in 2021 after revealing their romance in a video titled, “I fell in love with my bf’s best friend… who happens to be my step bro”.
But while she claims the clip, which showed shows Vas and Ricci being dared to kiss one another as Vas’ former boyfriend of seven years — allegedly Ricci’s best friend — watches on, was a “skit”, she insists their relationship is the true deal.

“We’ve been together for 10 years and have just moved back to Australia after living within the US for the last five of those,” she explained.
“We were about 13 years old once we first met through mutual friends, our families knew one another they usually introduced us I suppose you would say. So we’ve known one another for a really very long time.”
The definition of a stepfamily is the “mix” formed when two people come together and produce a toddler or children from previous relationships.
Vas stressed she and Ricci are “definitely not blood-related”, but added they like to maintain the particular details of their family connection private out of respect for his or her parents.
As a substitute, she said that at any time when they’re quizzed about their “stepsibling” claims, they’ll refer people to the song Strawberry on Ice, which Ricci penned about their romance and performed to her at their wedding.

The song incorporates lyrics resembling, “I just had belief in something, Don’t tell me my vision was fallacious, Coz you and me belong,” but so far as news.com.au can tell, no clear description of what two relatives got here together to make them stepbrother and stepsister.
However it hasn’t stopped the actress and musician from leveraging it on their social media accounts, which collectively have over 35 million followers.
“We didn’t got down to turn out to be influencers, it was never on our radar or ever something we ever desired to do,” she explained.
“Once I finished up on Neighbours we moved to America so I could pursue acting, but then Covid hit which affected the industry and it was really difficult.
“And we fell into content after meeting among the big creators in LA… and eventually we began making videos for ourselves.”
The unlikely couple have quite different brands individually, with Ricci often sharing his music while Vas uses her platform to create skits to flex her acting muscles.
Nonetheless, together, there’s one sort of video that basically took off.
“We didn’t know what we were doing, but people were drawn to us, and at any time when we did anything together it might at all times go very viral,” she continued.
“We didn’t realize ‘step sibling’ content was so popular, possibly since it’s rare? But I’ve realized through sharing our story that everybody loves it.
“We do spark controversy, I do know that.”
Indeed, on a recent video sharing their baby shower, there have been a considerable amount of nasty remarks among the many sea of “congratulations”.
“She is pregnant together with her step bro……… like tf?!” one raged.
“I used to be smiling until you said he was your stepbrother,” remarked one other.
Despite the backlash, Vas – who also runs a highly regarded OnlyFans account – said she’s currently settling back into life in Australia, and might’t wait to welcome their little girl in a number of weeks.
“I’m a workaholic so I’m planning to work through. It’s not in my nature to take time without work.”
