After a decade of rebuilding, the Thunder won their first NBA championship Sunday night, and given their youth and roster stability, there isn’t any reason to think they won’t be considered one of the hardest teams within the years to return.
The Thunder were No. 2 in points per game this season (114.7) with the most effective defensive rating within the league (105.7). They stood at the highest of the league with the franchise’s best regular season record (68-14), setting a high standard for what it should take to chase them down starting this fall.
But with several big trades already made and the primary round of the draft only a day away, it’s price wondering who’re probably the most realistic contenders to challenge Oklahoma City.
And it’s doesn’t look as if it should be the Pacers.
