My mother's father was in Jackson Prison Michigan, (closed a long time ago), most of his life for unpaid parking fees and bounced checks.
He was found dead, literally, his body over a gutter in the streets of Detroit with a bottle of liquor in his hand.
I never knew my grandfather on either side of my family, actually.
Both passed away when I was just a toddler.
