In a video shared to TikTok, the lady revealed the staff member’s response when she tried to lift the difficulty and request a refund the subsequent day.
Within the video, which has amassed near 50,000 views, the lady movies herself approaching the front desk and asking the person if he had a likelihood to have a look at the room following their grievance.
“We didn’t put cockroaches in there, the room wasn’t dirty,” he responded.
“One, possibly two [cockroaches] I can understand, but six, that’s not normal,” the lady replied.
The person then suggested she speak to Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.

“Go check with the lady who runs the council, she’s the one who causes the issues,” he said.
“Our rooms are clean, we don’t put cockroaches in there.”
After again stressing the variety of cockroaches within the room “was not normal,” the lady asked for a refund, only to be told she would only be refunded the quantity they paid to upgrade the room.
“I’ll provide you with the upgrade amount but I can’t provide you with the unique booking.com amount,” said the staff member.
When asked for the rationale why, he explained “Because I don’t feel prefer it.”
“You’re going to charge me for something that you simply didn’t provide?” she questioned, adding the motel was “meant to offer a clean room for me to sleep in.”
“I did stay awake here.”
Growing audibly more upset, the lady explained that she was staying within the hotel as she was visiting a loved one following a heartache.
“I believe you’re nervous in regards to the cockroaches an excessive amount of,” the person responded, later adding “I don’t care if you happen to’re emotional.”
The person eventually asked, “what would you want me to have done to the animals with legs that walked in your room?”
When the lady suggested pest control, the person insisted the hotel does carry it out.
After more forwards and backwards, the lady’s partner walked into the room before she asked when the upgraded amount could be refunded.
The person said he would process the refund “today” and the fund will likely be released inside 4-5 business days.
“I will likely be taking this to the health ombudsman. I will likely be courts and the whole lot else in regard to the remainder of this money. You can’t charge people,” the lady concluded before she and her partner left the motel.
Others expressed their shock over the encounter online.
“Speechless,” one person said.
“OMG OK never going there EVER,” said one other.
“Why would he not get the property pest sprayed yearly? Why on earth is he blaming the council? LOL!” one other commented.
“Port Macquarie gets so many visitors they don’t feel like they must make any effort, they don’t care, people will keep coming,” one other claimed.
Nonetheless, others asked if the lady was expecting a “five-star service from a two-star place?”
“That is the tropics. There are cockroaches in every single place,” said one other person.
In her TripAdvisor review, the lady said that the person “finally agreed to refund the quantity we paid to upgrade the room but since coping with Fair Trading he has claimed he never said that.”
“Absolutely the worst place I actually have ever set foot in! I’d not even wish my worst enemy to remain here!”
