More than 1.5 million low-paid Australian women working in healthcare, retail, hospitality and social work will be the major beneficiaries of the Fair Work Commission’s 5.2 per cent minimum wage rise.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers said it is recognition that women are the most vulnerable to the pandemic and economic consequences, and it is right they benefit most from the pay rise.
Employer groups have warned it will fuel inflation and put some businesses at risk of laying off workers.

As there has never been an instance in all of human history in which a minimum wage hike has raised pay levels, I'm at a loss as to why anyone would actually believe that such a thing will happen this time.
