More than 1.5 million low-paid Australian women working in healthcare, retail, hospitality and social work will be the major beneficiaries of the Fair Work Commission’s 5.2 per cent minimum wage rise.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers said it is recognition that women are the most vulnerable to the pandemic and economic consequences, and it is right they benefit most from the pay rise.

For the percentage that the minimum wage is increased the same percentage will increase the cost of basic living needs. Actually it will be more. So every time they increase the minimum wage you should expect the cost of living to increase even more. Until they finally squeeze you like a little bug. Because they think that's what you are.

Higher min wage makes cost of goods rise and puts them in higher tax bracket, it actually makes things worse

Hey ever wonder why Sky News doesn't report on Trump's Insurrection Hearings? Don't want to report on criminal Republicans and Conservatives?

Why not tax cuts for companies that meet wage standards you make? Instead of taking money from companies in taxes and giving the workers some crumbs in a minimum wage hike.

SUDDENLY, BECAUSE IT SUITS THEM, THEY KNOW WHAT A WOMAN IS. BUT THEY'VE CONVENIENTLY FORGOTTEN THAT THERE IS A WORKPLACE AWARD SYSTEM TO PROTECT ALL WORKERS FROM BEING UNDERPAID.

What benefit? Inflation puts them more behind. Typical Sky propaganda.

"…working in the lowest paid female dominated industries…". Any industry that is female dominated will pay lower because it is easier to get into which is why it pays lower in the first place.

So inflation is here to stay… raising wages isn't how you fix inflation. It's about making living affordable. Like lowering gas prices and housing.

That’s for women that are already working. What about the women that can’t get work because companies have to hire less?Minimum wage jobs are not careers,They’re supposed to be stepping stones on the way to a real job.Good for the women already working but bad for those looking for work.

More than one million Australian women to have their benefits/perks cut, their hours reduced and their jobs put in jeopardy or eliminated outright. How exactly is that a "benefit". As there has never been an instance in all of human history in which a minimum wage hike has raised pay levels, I'm at a loss as to why anyone would actually believe that such a thing will happen this time.
