Mike McCarthy clearly had enough of the Cowboys’ struggles.
The Dallas head coach took out his frustrations on a tablet after a failed fourth down within the second quarter of a 27-21 loss to the Falcons on Sunday.
Fox cameras captured McCarthy smashing a tablet early within the second quarter after a dismal series of events.
First, his offense sputtered on a fourth-and-one when Dallas wideout CeeDee Lamb was swarmed for a three-yard loss on an ill-fated end-around.
On the following possession, Falcons wideout Darnell Mooney scored a wide-open 36-yard touchdown from quarterback Kirk Cousins on a fourth-and-three play.
The Cowboys’ struggles continued as quarterback Dak Prescott was ruled out for the sport with a hamstring injury.
Cooper Rush relieved him and accomplished 18-of-24 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown.
Ezekiel Elliott being a healthy scratch for Sunday’s game, as a result of a reported disciplinary motion, was one other nail within the coffin for Dallas.
“Now we have five losses and so we clearly understand where that puts us so far as what it would take,” McCarthy said. “We’ve got to get to winning.”
The previous Super Bowl-winning coach is entering the ultimate 12 months of his contract and the pressure is mounting.
Prescott is about to get an MRI exam on Monday to find out the severity of his hamstring injury.
“It’s something I’ve never felt,” Prescott said. “I saw the medical team and asked if could I make it worse [by continuing to play]. At that time they said I wouldn’t find a way to guard myself and made the decision to carry me out.”
The Cowboys (3-5) host the Eagles (6-2) in an NFC East showdown on Nov. 10.
