Megan Thee Stallion is saying “bye bye bye” to the rumors about her feud with Justin Timberlake.
The “WAP” rapper took to social media to clear up speculation that she had a fight with Timberlake during Tuesday night’s 2023 Video Music Awards.
Stallion, 28, posted a video on TikTok and Instagram where she looked cozy and friendly with Timberlake, 42, all while she was waving her hands around enthusiastically.
“I just talk with my hands🤷🏽♀️ lol @justintimberlake,” she captioned the clip.
The initial rumor was sparked after an exchange between Stallion and Timberlake was caught on camera backstage on the show – during which Timberlake’s former boy band, *NSYNC, reunited.
A behind-the-scenes clip making its rounds on X, the platform previously often called Twitter, showed Timberlake and the opposite 4 members of *NSYNC walking past the “Girls within the Hood” rapper.
Timberlake appeared to lean in to say something to Megan, and she or he waved her finger in response, as if she was dismissing him in a heated way.
Eagle-eyed VMAs fans concluded that the 2 had an argument.
“What could they be arguing about lmfaooo,” one viewer asked.
One other fan commented, “Justin and Megan arguing would be the most random thing that I even have heard all yr perhaps it will not be the way it appears.”
Sure enough, a source told Page Six that their exchange wasn’t hostile.
“Meg loves Justin,” they said. “She was saying, ‘No, no, no, we’ve never met before.’ It was their first time meeting and she or he was excited.”
One other source said, “Megan didn’t want this to be the primary meeting with Justin Timberlake so said, ‘Not now.’”
Through the ceremony, Stallion performed onstage with Cardi B, twerking to their latest collaboration, “Bongos.”
Timberlake, for his part, had a reunion together with his fellow *NSYNC members, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone — marking the primary time the group took the stage together in a decade — to present Taylor Swift with the Best Pop award for “Anti-Hero.”
The group was enthusiastic for the *NSYNC reunion – especially the nights’ big winner Swift, who sobbed.
“I’m not doing well pivoting from this to this. I had your dolls,” Swift said to the group while accepting her trophy. “Are you doing something? What’s going to occur now? They’re going to do something and I want to know what it’s.”
She added: “You’re pop personified. To receive this out of your golden pop hands is basically — it’s an excessive amount of.”
