John Tolkin, the Red Bulls’ 22-year-old midfielder and native of Chatham, N.J., delivered a room-service set piece onto the top of teammate Andres Reyes on the far post two minutes into the second half of the Eastern Conference Final in Orlando.
Reyes buried the header for a 1-0 RBNY lead in what turned out to be a 1-0 victory to send the club to its first MLS Cup final since 2008.
When the goal was scored, Reyes’ teammates mobbed him in front of the Orlando goal.
