In “Lies, Politics and Democracy,” FRONTLINE examines how officials fed the public lies about the 2020 presidential election and embraced rhetoric that led to political violence.
An epic examination of former President Donald Trump’s influence on the Republican Party, the documentary presents startling details from GOP insiders on how the indulgence of Trump’s authoritarian impulses and embrace of his rhetoric enabled his power over the American political system, leading the nation to a precarious moment in which most Republican voters now believe the lie that the 2020 election was stolen.
Told in part through the perspectives of key Republican players and party leaders, the two-hour special provides first-person accounts from those who sounded the alarm about Trump, and those whose warnings were minimized or silenced all along the way.

As an neutral viewer from India I always get the feel that PBS political documentaries are anti Republican.

Could someone please contact me with the special Frontline did when Hilary lost to President Trump in 2016 and was calling for the electors not to certify the election and Hollywood stars were running adds to the same effect. I'm a fan of Frontline but these one-sided hit pieces are making it look like another cog in the corporate media endoctrination machine.
End all ursury practices and also kickstart a mandated draft registery for ALL women , just like they do with the men .
Donald J. Trump – The most divisive president in the history of the United States of America. He should pay for his crimes against our country, but will he? Democracy hangs in the balance.
Weak republicans being controlled by a weak man. Very fitting. Trump said he was going to drain the swamp. He did. All the trash hypocrisy greed lies bigotry that rested on the bed of the swamp has been exposed. 🇺🇸. These politicians only want personal power. The humpers are grown gullible and grifted.
As important as this documentary is, it's really hard to watch. It's as close to a fascist takeover of the United States as we've ever come. Thank you to Frontline for documenting this and keeping the facts front and center.
They were ready for unarmed peaceful BLM suited and booted on foot and horseback with smoke grenades flash bang…but proud boys and oath keepers on January 6th..not so much

What stuns me more than anything are the number of people in this country willing to believe a "trumped" up lie without any evidence at all. Evidence is now irrelevant. Evidence is just a nuisance, something that gets in the way. I'll never get my head around that. It's the same with science (over superstition). If the nation's stupidity had really sunk that low, then we "need" to worry.
