Predictably on cue, the web is outraged yet again that a girl they’ve never met looks different than she did in a movie they saw 30 years ago.
The goal this time is Meg Ryan, the 61-year-old star of 1993’s “Sleepless in Seattle” and 1989’s “When Harry Met Sally.”
Social media losers — who, let’s be honest, surely don’t seem like supermodels themselves — were dead-set on shouting “I’ll NOT have what she’s having!” as they loudly criticized the romantic comedy actress’ appearance at a recent screening of Michael J. Fox’s latest documentary “Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie” in Recent York.
As all the time, the kvetching is unbearably tedious.
“WTF has Meg Ryan done to her face?!,” said one Twitter user.
“Is that actually Meg Ryan? If that’s the case, that’s such a shame and incredibly sad,” one other jackass bemoaned.
What, exactly, is so sad about it? She looked like she was having a fun, classy time. And the celeb friend she was photographed with, Michael J. Fox, who has Parkinson’s disease, doesn’t look all that very like Marty McFly anymore either. It’s been a few years since 1985.
Still, trolls gotta troll.

One other former actress who faced social media’s unfair wrath last month was Bridget Fonda, 59, who was spotted in a rare moment by photographers while on an outing in Los Angeles. The “Single White Female” star quit acting after a 2003 automotive crash.
Hello! magazine asked, “What happened to Bridget Fonda?”
A greater query: What’s the matter with looking different a long time after your best successes?
Leave ’em alone. Unlike kooky contemporaries akin to Madonna and Johnny Depp, Ryan and Fonda have led fairly quiet and respectable private lives and have never resorted to debasing stunts or reckless behavior to remain relevant. They haven’t done a single thing to merit any anger in any respect.
Without fanfare, they’ve largely waved goodbye to the limelight.

Ryan last appeared within the movie “Ithaca,” which she also directed, eight years ago. And Fonda’s most up-to-date project of any kind was the 2002 mini-series “Snow Queen.”
They proceed to be ripped apart nonetheless.
Generally speaking, men in Hollywood don’t get this sort of harsh treatment as much as women do. Even guys who also haven’t been seen in years are allowed a shred of dignity.
Fans were elated to see the reclusive Jack Nicholson back sitting courtside at a Lakers game last week.
Did the 86-year-old look the exact same as he did in “The Witches of Eastwick”? No. But good for him for getting some fresh air, their suddenly kind and delicate pondering goes.
Let’s stop being shocked and appalled that famous women age, or do things to change their looks. Have a look within the mirror — really, do it. I’m sure you’ve seen higher days yourself.
