Should you’re in search of a recent job, live in the Southwest, and list considered one of your skills as “hugging bears” in your resume, a recent opportunity has arisen.
On Monday, the Latest Mexico Department of Game and Fish said it was hiring conservation officers, or “skilled bear huggers.”
While the job opening description could have raised some eyebrows, the agency says interested applicants will need to have the flexibility to hike in “strenuous” conditions and be courageous enough to crawl into bear dens, and trust their coworkers enough to maintain them secure throughout the process.
“Not all law enforcement work is that this glamorous, but we might love so that you can join the team where you’ll be able to have the experience of a lifetime,” the agency wrote in a job posting.
The agency stressed that it didn’t recommend crawling into bear dens, noting that the photographs posted were a part of a research project in Northern Latest Mexico.
“[A]ll the bears were handled safely under supervision,” the agency said, warning that their officers would “have a chat” with whoever decided to crawl right into a bear den.
The job also entails educating the general public about wildlife and management. Interested parties will need to have a background in biological sciences, natural resources conservation, or a related field.
“Conservation officer candidates will need to have a positive attitude, a robust work ethic, and the flexibility to work independently and as a part of a team in distant locations across Latest Mexico,” an agency spokesperson told FOX Television Stations. “A way of adventure is a must!”
Applications for this position are open until March 30.
