Latest JetBlue and United partnership links loyalty programs and boosts frequent-flyer perks

United Airlines and JetBlue Airways are elevating their frequent flier perks through a brand new partnership.

The 2 airlines announced a brand new loyalty collaboration called Blue Sky, which is able to allow United’s MileagePlus members and JetBlue’s TrueBlue members to earn and redeem points and miles on “most” flights operated by the opposite airline.

If approved by regulators, other frequent-flier advantages may even be offered when travelers fly on the opposite airline at no extra cost, including priority boarding, free baggage and preferred seats. This system is targeted to start out in the autumn, in line with USA Today.

The airlines may even offer flights on each other’s web sites and apps. Moreover, they may show the opposite’s itineraries and fares on the web site and apps when passengers seek for flights to book.

“United’s global reach perfectly complements JetBlue’s East Coast leisure network, and significantly expands the choices and advantages for TrueBlue members, irrespective of where on the earth they’re traveling,” Joanna Geraghty, CEO of JetBlue, said in a press release.

The partnership also means the return of United flights to Latest York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport after the airline shut down operations at JFK in 2022.

As a part of the agreement, JetBlue will give United access to space at JFK for as much as seven each day round-trip flights starting in 2027. JetBlue currently sees about 180 round trips per day on the airport.

JetBlue and United may even exchange eight flight time slots at Newark Liberty International Airport.

“We’re at all times searching for ways to provide our MileagePlus members much more value and advantages and this collaboration gives them recent, unique ways to make use of their hard-earned miles and find options that fit their schedule,” United CEO Scott Kirby added within the statement.

“Plus, our employees are really enthusiastic about United’s return to JFK for the long run, and we’re all looking forward to initiating flights very soon.”

As was previously reported, JetBlue had been fascinated about forming a partnership, with an aim “to higher compete against larger airlines like United and their shared rival Delta Airlines,” in line with CNBC.

The announcement comes shortly after United announced that starting June 3, it’s going to require domestic travelers to ascertain in no less than 45 minutes before departure, syncing the carrier up with Delta and American, which have already done the identical.
