As of press time Tuesday, neither side seemed not willing to budge much over the carriage fees paid by Optimum parent Altice to broadcast MSG Networks, which is run by Knicks and Rangers owner James Dolan.
In the present deal that expires at midnight, Optimum pays MSGN $10 per subscriber, a source near the situation told The Post.
The cable operator, which has about one-third of the roughly 3 million subscribers within the Latest York City area, is looking to cut back that fee in the brand new contract.
On Tuesday, MSGN sweetened a proposal it floated weeks ago that will involve allowing Optimum to maneuver it from the fundamental tier, meaning subscribers would must pay an extra fee for the channel, the source said.
MSGN declined comment.
Optimum didn’t respond for comment in regards to the latest offer.
“MSG Networks is demanding exorbitant programming fees – which could raise our customers’ cable bills,” the corporate said in a press release on Monday.
