Jennifer Gollan joins S.F. Chronicle as investigative reporter

Gollan spent a decade as a national investigative reporter at Reveal, where her recent exposé on how often perpetrators kill their intimate partners with guns they possess illegally led to sweeping changes in federal law and expanded local and state police’s ability to crack down on abusers. For her “When Abusers Keep Their Guns” investigation, Gollan won the 2022 Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Journalism Award. 

Gollan has also been honored with the Hillman Prize and two Sigma Delta Chi Awards for a series on the exploitation and abuse of caregivers within the elder-care home industry. The investigation, “Caregivers and Takers,” led to a U.S. congressional hearing and statewide efforts to recuperate employees’ wages.

In 2016, Gollan won a National Emmy Award for “Deadly Oil Fields,” a collaboration with PBS NewsHour that exposed the alarming variety of fatalities during North Dakota’s oil rush, in addition to major oil corporations’ efforts to shirk responsibility for the deaths.

“As an investigative reporter, I’m driven by the next priorities: uncovering the reality, holding power to account, exposing systemic failures and spurring real change,” Gollan said.
