INDIANAPOLIS — There’s no need yet to jot down a breakup song about Travis Kelce and the Chiefs.
In the primary major clue that Kelce could delay retirement, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach indicated Tuesday that he expects the Hall of Fame tight end to return in 2025.
“How we left it at the tip of the season is that he was fired up,” Veach said when asked by The Post on the 2025 NFL Scouting Mix.

“He has yet one more yr under contract. Still think he has that fireside and desire to play. So far as I’m concerned, there isn’t a deadline (for a call). I feel we left it as he’d be back. And we’re excited to get him back and get him going.”
Kelce did little to shut down speculation throughout the lead-up to Super Bowl 2025 that he could retire after the last game and revel in life as a media personality — like his brother Jason has in his first yr after retirement from the Eagles — and boyfriend of pop star Taylor Swift.
Perhaps the Chiefs’ failed bid to three-peat modified Kelce’s mind.
He said on the Recent Heights podcast that he cohosts with Jason that he wasn’t going to rush into any “crazy decisions” and “take a while to figure it out” so he isn’t “half-assing it” next season.
“At this point, get out of town and calm down,” head coach Andy Reid said of Kelce’s plans. “For without delay, that’s what he’s doing.”

Kelce is due a $4.5 million salary plus an $11.5 million roster bonus on March 14 and one other $1 million roster bonus on the fifth day of coaching camp.
“Hopefully, he has a magical season to finish his magical profession,” Veach said.
