A young Aussie goes viral for the age-old query that the majority women have asked themselves of their working lives: “Is that this too short for work?”
Beth Buckingham has amassed multiple million views on TikTok because she’s shared an outfit she wore to a company job that she now regrets.
The 30-year-old posted an old clip of herself wearing a white mini-skirt and questioning whether it was too short to wear to work.
She then answered her query.
“Yes, it is much too short! What were you even pondering? Truthfully, you’ll wear it and flash everybody within the office, and also you’ll be uncomfortable all day and want you’d never wore it,” she said.
Buckingham shared the video and said it was often an issue for tall girls.
She asked her followers to remind her to “never wear it work again” and asked for recommendations for skirts that sit mid-thigh and aren’t ugly.
Buckingham’s office outfit divided the web.
While someone who works in the federal government said it was a tough “gosh no” and one other said “Genuinely, your skirt is simply too short”, some women commented that they often wear the identical length skirt to work.
Another person said that while she at all times wears that length of skirt, she is unemployed, and one other said that Buckingham was “literally her every single day” wearing a brief skirt to work.
Buckingham added that she was “just a lady trying to decorate for work in summer” and told someone there was no “have to yell” once they responded in all capitals.
“Just go straight to HR while you walk in,” one advised.
“As a tall girl I feel you,” one other wrote.
“No, it isn’t too short! Please normalize this,” another person begged.
Buckingham added that while she might regret her work outfit, it isn’t a “big deal” to wear something like this in Australia, depending in your job. But she added that she felt “personally uncomfortable” after wearing it.
The 30-year-old told news.com.au that in Australia, you “get away” with wearing short skirts, even in corporate culture in the midst of summer.
“My office is sort of casual so nobody else blinked twice. It’s not that serious,” she said.
“But I personally just felt uncomfortable wearing all of it day because I used to be moving around, getting up from my desk, walking around etc. So, I needed I’d modified the second I filmed that first video. All the time clarity in hindsight.”

Buckingham said that despite planning to not wear the skirt again, she’s made worse fashion selections at work before.
“I’ve worn my standing jeans to work before and immediately regretted it after sitting down for five minutes. I’ve also forgotten to take just a few tags of latest clothes before,” she said.
