India is set to surpass China as having the world’s largest population next year, according to figures released by the United Nations.
The two countries currently both have more than 1.4 billion people, but China’s birth rate is slower.
The UN says by 2050, India will have 1.6 billion people, while China will have 1.3 billion.

India is rank 100+ on world hunger index and has rampant child manlnutrition. Having more people whole these problems exist is not good. It will only mean more people end up in Indian slums and starve, along with more pollution since poor starving people don't care to look after enrivonment.
China's birth rates are in line with most of the developed world, with Japan and South Korea has even worse birth rates, some of the worst in the world.
So China is showing that it's a developed country now more than a developing one, which is a good thing. In the poorer areas, like Xinjiang and Tibet, birth rates are still higher, and also thr one child policy wss never applied to minorities, only to Han Chinese. But the one child policy was removed a long time ago and is now two child policy. But many Chinese do not even want two or more children now, which is like I said in line with developed countries birth rates.
