Horrified mom shows black mold growing inside daughter’s lunch box — after getting used for two years

An Australian mom has shared her shock after discovering black mold inside her daughter’s Go Green lunch box that she’s eaten out of daily for 2 years. 

While cleansing her daughter’s lunch box, mom Ashleigh took apart different components and pulled out the silicone bands from the bento-box container.

It was then that she noticed something strange that caught her eye.

‘I believe the water must get stuck in there’

Holding back gagging, she says, “Yuck…” as she shows one among the silicone bands covered in black mold.

“I believe the water must get trapped in there… gross,” she says within the viral TikTok, as she continues to tug apart other sections of the lunch box revealing more mold-covered bands.

As she continues to tug apart all of the sections, she urges parents of youngsters with similar lunch boxes to “clean them STAT.”

“I’m raising awareness to [take off the seals] every rattling time you wash the lunch box.”

People say it’s ‘utterly embarrassing’ and ‘obvious’ you must clean them well

The video now has nearly 90k views and 3000 likes, with lots of Ashleigh’s followers sharing their thoughts within the comments.

Some said that it’s “common sense” that it is advisable thoroughly clean these types of lunch boxes.

“Is that this not common sense? For any airtight leakproof containers? 😳” someone remarked. 

One other said: “That is pretty obvious,” while another person said it was “utterly embarrassing” that Ashleigh admitted to this. “I don’t get embarrassed easily,” Ashleigh replied. 

One other wrote, “B.box lunch boxes are a lot easier to clean, I’ll never return.”

‘I never even knew the seals got here off!’

Others expressed their surprise that the silicone bands were removable.

“Sh*t I’ll need to scrub mine now,” added another person. 

“I’m grabbing my daughters today immediately after school,” replied one other.
