This holiday season is certain to be a giant one, as recent data reveals that Americans who’re celebrating the winter holidays will partake in over 10 gatherings this 12 months.

That’s in keeping with a survey of two,000 U.S. adults who rejoice a winter holiday, which revealed that the majority Americans are celebrating Christmas Day (70%), Christmas Eve (65%) and Thanksgiving (62%).

And so they’ll rejoice each holiday a median of two separate times. Others are celebrating Recent 12 months’s Eve (33%), Kwanzaa (32%), Recent 12 months’s Day (30%) and Friendsgiving (30%).

Of those respondents, they rejoice each Recent 12 months’s Eve and Recent 12 months’s Day twice, Friendsgiving twice and Kwanzaa thrice, bringing Americans’ yearly holiday celebration total to greater than 10.

Results also showed that greater than 4 in five (84%) of respondents plan to travel for a minimum of some holidays this 12 months.

In actual fact, over half (52%) are traveling greater than last 12 months and only 10% of respondents aren’t planning to travel in any respect this season.

This may occasionally be because nearly nine in 10 (85%) say the enjoyment of traveling to be with family and friends through the holidays outweighs the challenges of travel.

Conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Motel 6, the survey aimed to uncover how Americans are celebrating the upcoming holiday season — whether it’s away from home, with family or for some much-needed R&R.

Respondents are planning to get to their holiday destinations by plane (63%), train (53%), driving (48%), walking (41%) or rideshares like an Uber or taxi (39%).

In the case of lodging, most respondents are staying with either their siblings (51%) or at their parents’ house (51%). Almost two in five (39%) are planning to remain in a hotel with others, and 26% are staying in a single alone.

Moreover, 60% plan to take their furry friends along for his or her holiday journeys this 12 months, up from 22% in a 2022 survey which polled the identical demographic.

The thrill of a busy holiday season and family gatherings can sometimes cause social batteries to expire, which could also be why the typical American looks forward to alone time just 4 hours into a vacation, while nearly one in five (19%) says it only takes between one to 2 hours.

And so they’ll rejoice each holiday a median of two separate times. Others are celebrating Recent 12 months’s Eve (33%), Kwanzaa (32%), Recent 12 months’s Day (30%) and Friendsgiving (30%).

While over half (55%) are planning to rejoice the vacations on the day itself, 55% are also taking a look at the times leading as much as the vacation and even just a few days after (49%).

Of those that are selecting to rejoice on a unique day, essentially the most common reasons for this are to accommodate everyone’s schedules (52%), lower your expenses (48%), rejoice with either side of the family (47%) and even to rejoice with friends first after which with family (39%).

“The variety of holiday occasions appears to be higher than ever before, so it’s no surprise Americans are planning to hit the road greater than last 12 months for his or her holiday celebrations,” said Julie Arrowsmith, President and CEO of economy lodging brands Motel 6 and Studio 6. “And despite the hustle, bustle and travel of the vacation season, it’s all the time memorable to spend time and make recent memories with family members near and much.”

This 12 months, greater than 4 in five (83%) respondents say that the present economic climate will impact how they rejoice the vacations.

Moreover, 60% plan to take their furry friends along for his or her holiday journeys this 12 months, up from 22% in a 2022 survey which polled the identical demographic.

For a lot of, this implies reducing the variety of gifts they’re giving (65%), changing their approach to gifting (56%) and finding cheaper lodging (55%).

But that doesn’t mean respondents aren’t looking forward to gifts. This 12 months, they’re hoping to receive electronics (66%), experiences like concert events or sporting events (57%), clothes and niknaks (56%) and even money or money (47%).

In actual fact, 66% of respondents would appreciate a money gift now greater than they did once they were a baby.

If given $500 money or check as a vacation gift, many respondents would use it for an experience (59%).

“The vacations are supposed to prioritize time together, so don’t let travel, costs or logistics get in the best way of your gatherings,” added Arrowsmith, “Choosing budget-friendly lodging is an excellent approach to keep expenses minimal in order that travelers can give attention to time with family and friends and worry less about travel costs.”
