Inflation aggravation is hitting Canadians once more, with rates now reaching highs not seen in nearly four decades. In June, prices at the pumps also jumped by more than 50 per cent compared to what they were a year ago and that affects the price of most everything you see in stores and restaurants because it’s shipped in. Food across the board costs nearly nine per cent more, hitting restaurants hard. Anne Gaviola has more on the impact on consumers, and when we could see inflation reach its peak.

As severe heat smothers parts of Canada, farmers are worried about how the weather will impact crop yields. Morganne Campbell reports on the damage from the unusually dry weather, and what this means for an already strained food supply chain.

The "peak" of inflation is nothing to be excited about, because the initiated know that deflation follows soon after. Which is just as much of a disaster for an unprepared economy.

grocery stores still charge more for things that were not effected by inflation to increase the over all factor of their store. made in store foods and products not subject to inflation were also increased by up to 3 dollars, items that did not need increase and factories that had no reason to increase costs

  13. ed lubitz says:

the amount of grains and food that Canada produces and I'm still paying 10$ for a loaf of bread, stop giving our f*****g food away, in years past when we had abundance and our grocery bills were much lower giving away food wasn't a big deal. Either bring our costs down or stop wheeling and dealing with the world….or does corporate greed truly own this crooked government

  14. Matthew Grahame says:

Absolute garbage, the reason for the inflation is the fact that the liberals printed hundreds of billions of Canadian dollars during the last two years. All while knowing full well how badly it would devalue everyone's existing currency.

  15. Kerry Toby says:

Money printing over the last 5 years is by far the biggest driving cause. The government just keeps printing money instead and not dropping their climate change agenda.

In fact, all Canadian cities are already overcrowded, congested, polluted, and crime-ridden without any control, regulation, proper management, and governance.

Many Canadians have been suffering without proper housing, healthcare, transportation, education, jobs, income, housing, and decent life in Canada for a long time.

The JT government opens its doors to unlimited foreigners and strangers from corrupt and overpopulated countries just for their political gains and profits.

Now, the total system is collapsed, and MESS in Canada.

  37. Brood Mother says:

How to reduce costs at the pumps and grocery stores and banking institutions…stop paying taxes that our corrupt government takes and gives away to foreign countries…stop paying banking fees (take all your money out of the banks) stop giving your money to corrupt corporations like chain grocery stores like Walmart and loblaws who report record profits. ..support smaller local shops…force the government to tax the multi BILLIONS in profits made by oil mongers

Canada is an open air mental asylum. Almost the entire population is either depressed, diseased, or on prescription/illegal drugs….well, the leaders, academia, health care workers, and bankers are preying on its own population; especially the coloured people.

This is all this liberal government fault they have caused this big problem now topple this liberal government now . Liberals will pay a severe price for not listening to our Canadian citizens .The liberals have no regard for what Canadians want actually they the liberals care about lining their pockets with our money and tearing apart the average family and sending them into poverty .My question is when will there be a government that actually works for the people .Is there any honest politician out there I wait to see this in my life time .As I see the birth rate is declining all over the world and this will affect how world economies prosper .A warning to governments fix this problem or face becoming poverty stricken just like the rest of us .

Many countries have national security laws. I do not break the law in Hong Kong, and I am not afraid of anything.

I am happy to live in Hong Kong, apart from the small and expensive housing, democracy and freedom are better than Singapore, why are you not targeting it?
