A Florida dad shot his daughter’s abusive ex-boyfriend dead after the person allegedly assaulted her in her apartment – then got here back for more, in accordance with police.
Gainesville law enforcement officials responded to a domestic dispute on the Polos Apartments complex on Saturday and determined the unidentified ex-boyfriend had been inside the lady’s apartment and “physically assaulted her,” a police statement said.
The lady’s father also got here to the apartment within the aftermath, police said.
About half-hour after police took a report for the alleged domestic dispute, the ex got here back and “made entry,” in accordance with police.
This time, nevertheless, her father shot the suspect once within the chest with a handgun, in accordance with police.
The suspect fled and responding officers found him mortally wounded near his automobile.
He was declared dead by EMS despite CPR efforts, authorities said.
The investigation is ongoing, in accordance with the Gainesville Police Department.
Residents of the apartment complex expressed shock over the shooting to local media.
“Everyone I speak to here is so nice,” one resident identified only as “Cona” told WCJB. “I come and I work out here day-after-day, and everybody I interact with is so real and sort, so it was certainly one of those things where it’s definitely out of the blue.”
Resident Dalton Graham said the world is usually secure, noting the complex is situated near the University of Florida campus.
“I assumed that you just had the incorrect Polos or something,” Graham told the outlet. “I actually have nothing but good things to say in regards to the university and town normally, and particularly the Polos Apartments. Never really had anything like this, so it was pretty shocking.”
