For those who’ve ever been frustrated that the cabin crew of a plane won’t provide help to stow your carry-on luggage, you’re not alone — but there’s reason.
A flight attendant, who regularly shares the secrets of the job on TikTok, has let people in on why they won’t help along with your bags.

The user, Cierra Mistt, revealed that flight attendants don’t receives a commission until all passengers are on board and the plane doors are shut.
“That being said, there’s a reason why we let you know we cannot provide help to life your bags up,” she began.

“If we get hurt, we don’t have staff’ [compensation] because we’re not on the clock yet.”
One other flight attendant Kat Kamalani backed up her claim, saying: “Everyone thinks it’s the flight attendant’s job to lift your luggage into the bins, however it’s not.”
“Actually, our airline, and a ton of other airlines, let you know ‘don’t do that’ since you get so many injuries from it. And also you’re not even covered,” she said, in response to The Mirror.
People within the comments were shocked concerning the revelation.
“The pay situation sucks. You have to be getting paid the moment you step foot on that plane not when the doors close,” one person wrote.
The TikTokker also revealed that flight attendants can unlock the restroom doors from the skin in case of emergency.
