Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has thanked the U.S. for its support for Ukraine as his wife Olena Zelenska continues a visit to Washington this week.
“Increasing American support for Ukraine, additional assistance to protect people from Russian terror, solving humanitarian needs – these are all the tasks of the ongoing visit of the first lady of Ukraine to the United States,” he said in his nightly address on Tuesday evening.
Zelenska also held a meeting with Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday and visited the memorial for the victims of the Holodomor (also known as the Great Famine) of 1932-1933 in Ukraine in the center of Washington, as well as met representatives of the Ukrainian community in the United States.

It is incredible seeing the standing ovation and unanimous support in approving further billions of dollars in military funding to prolong this war! Not a single word about coming to some kind of dialog to end this conflict and save lives. I don't think you would see the same bipartisan scenes for policies to lower unemployment, homelessness, provide medical insurance coverage, rising food, energy costs, education and countering the rising interests rates/inflation. I guarantee there would be heated debates and long drawn out arguments for blocking any kind of progress.

Why isn't America pulling their finger out and get on the task of giving material support to Ukraine.
Since the 24th of February I follow the French newsposts two hours every day. Debates with ex-generals, Russian journalists and writers in exile, Oekrainien journalists and writers, European professors in military strategy, specialists in geopolitics. I learn a lot every day. What f.i. the Russian state television says (live fragments). It's hallucinating. Whoever cherishes liberty of speech, democracy and decent execution of justice understands that the territory of Oekraine is the arena where a war is fought for our values of human rights, justice, humanity. How on earth can we loath our own battles in history for the right to vote, for justice, to chase ruthless agressors? Loath our ancestors ? Loath our system of democracy ? Perhaps for many Americans it is a far from my bed war; I understand. But please do not forget that when it rains in Europe, you'll get drops in the US. I treat my right to say what I choose to say with the outmost respect. There are – however – things I loath : human suffering, waste of precious time and energy (climate change), dictators. Democracy is far from perfect. The system makes many mistakes. The Russian agression in Oekraïne makes me think of Hitler's one man show in Europe. And then there were people who admired the man. Who is well informed has learned that Oekraïne has battled for SIX CENTURIES against the Russian menace. Even – unfortunately – to the point they thought that de German Army would liberate them in WOII. In 1932 and 1933 Stalin organized a famine in OekraIne : estimation between 3,5 and 7 millions victims. No war, just famine. The patatoes were very fine. No disease. Long before, the Tartars (original population in Oekraïne) were chased and/or eliminated. Russia has always tried to wipe off the Oekrainian culture by killing its people. As a soevereign country with a democratic system since 2014, the people of Oekraïne have chosen to follow the European way. With the Russians they did nothing else but suffer. Their battle is our battle. There is Russia. There is China. Their populations have become feodal serfs. I do not wish a modernized middle-age serfdom for my children and grand-children. The bad thing I found through comments is that the majority of US citizens are taking info on the Ukraine war from the point of view of politics, and we are here, in Ukraine, begging for weapons (not the USD). We are seeing with our own eyes what means to be occupied by russians in our cities like Mariupol, Lysychansk, Melitopol, etc. We are asking the US not about money, we are asking for giving us the ability to defend our nation. We need an air defense system to save our lives from russian rocket terrorism, we need artillery to have the ability to fight them on the land. Former Ukrainian MP says Zelensky ordered confiscation of Russian gas: 'They made the decision to steal'
Ukraine's President Vladimir Zelensky has instructed Naftogaz – the country's largest oil and gas company – to study the possibility of stealing Russian gas from transit pipelines, said former Ukrainian lawmaker Ilya Kiva.
Earlier, the former speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, deputy Dmitry Razumkov, proposed to start an illegal "confiscation" of fuel supplied to the European Union by Moscow through Kiev-controlled territory.
"Yesterday [Thursday, the 21st], Zelensky set the task for the leadership of Naftogaz to devise a plan to study possibilities and consequences of an unauthorized intervention on Russian gas pumped from Ukraine to Europe," Kiva said.
The former parliamentarian pointed out that at the moment Ukraine's gas storage facilities have only half of what is needed for the heating period. Therefore, according to him, Zelensky would be ready to violate international obligations.
"They made the decision to steal," said the former deputy.
Gas supplied by Gazprom continues to transit regularly through Ukraine, according to the contract, which expires in 2024. Just over 40 million cubic meters are pumped every day through the Sudzha metering station.
Moscow has been emphasizing that it complies and will strictly comply with its contractual obligations on the supply of gas. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Gazprom is ready to send the necessary amount of gas to Europe and that there is no reason to transfer responsibility to Moscow for the energy crisis in Europe.
"Gazprom has always fulfilled, is fulfilling and intends to fulfill all its obligations. There is no basis for our partners to change or try to transfer their own mistakes to Russia and Gazprom," Putin said last Wednesday (20).

This is incredible. Absolute admiration. So much pride, so much love, wisdom not mentioning character. Just amazing. Couldn’t listen without tears. Americans should help. As a taxpayer I urge my government to do more. The world needs to stand next to Ukraine against this terror. This is not only for Ukrainians for the entire world, including Russians who wants to live normal life without being scared.
Russia is using grain as a hostage to blackmail the world to stop the Ukraine war. It is a waste of time to negotiate with the the Russian leadership since they will break any agreement as long as it gets what they want. Unfortunately US, NATO and EU will not be blackmailed to capitulate in Ukraine no matter how painful. To resolve this situation Russian needs to be completely defeated and driven back to their own borders. Ukraine must be accepted to NATO and EU to be the front line to defend Europe. as soon as possible. NATO should supply Ukraine fully and completely as if they are in NATO. Ukraine needs massive amounts of weapons to take offensive on multiple fronts to push the Russians back to their original border. Ukraine shut down the canal, which supplied water to Crimea, in 2014 soon after the Russian annexation of Crimea. Crimea wanted to join Russia. Flow of water was restored in March 2022 during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Why did Ukraine cut off water to Crimea, this should be a war crime.
