He thought that he might somehow still be President, for about half of the country, due to a possible civil conflict/war, and in that case would need some of those documents, since he would be running the rogue office at Maralago, even though Biden had "lllegally," (because the election had been "stolen") moved into the White House. So of course he couldn't attend the Biden inauguration. "he can't comment" as to what they suspected (I would add "or won't comment"). Ok, let's lean with him, let's say there is a damn good reason why they suspected, is that fair? Ok, so at SOME POINT, it is fair to say "trot it out"–show us what you found, explain why this was the only way to get it, AND explain why you prevented Trump's people to be there and watch what you took. Is that not fair? Is it not reasonable to want there to be total transparency of what you did–why were the cameras "turned off", reasonable questions–for Democrats and Republicans?? As a former military security specialist with a SCI/TS clearance guess what; the FBI had better make sure that any of the agents who looked at those classified docs had better have had a security clearance high enough to even look at them! If not they themselves are guilty of violating the security protocols.

The case in question is titled Judicial Watch v. National Archives and Records Administration and it involved an effort by the conservative watchdog to compel the Archives to forcibly seize hours of audio recordings that Clinton made during his presidency with historian Taylor Branch.
U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson in Washington D.C. ultimately rejected Judicial Watch's suit by concluding there was no provision in the Presidential Records Act to force the National Archives to seize records from a former president.
But Jackson's ruling — along with the Justice Department's arguments that preceded it — made some other sweeping declarations that have more direct relevance to the FBI's decision to seize handwritten notes and files Trump took with him to Mar-a-Lago. The most relevant is that a president's discretion on what are personal vs. official records is far-reaching and solely his, as is his ability to declassify or destroy records at will.
