Fans are frightened for YouTuber Eugenia Cooney after a recent TikTok video posted to her social media page.
Within the clip, which has amassed greater than 16.8 million views because it was posted on July 21, shows Cooney wearing a hot pink outfit from head to toe, inspired by the film “Barbie.”
“Hiiii im Barbie,” wrote Cooney, who often posts fashion content on her YouTube channel with greater than 2.13 million subscribers, within the caption of the TikTok post.
Nonetheless, some fans gave the impression to be alarmed by her extremely thin appearance, which they expressed within the comments section.
“Wishing you health and happiness,” one person wrote.
One other agreed, typing, “Wishing you good health hun hope your capable of feel strong and healthy… your energy is gorgeous.”
The clip was also reposted by web personality Oli London on the platform X, formerly often called Twitter, by which he noted her “worryingly thin figure.”
Users flooded the comments with concern.
“This is amazingly concerning,” one user wrote in response to London’s repost. “She’s been like this for a very long time, I’m surprised so far she hasn’t received help for her problems.”
“As a lifelong anorexic that’s currently in recovery, I’m horrified that that is being promoted on her social media,” one other claimed. “This imagery shouldn’t be healthy for any young women to view. It’s very triggering.”
“I’m surprised she has the energy to face, let alone walk,” an X user wrote in response to London. “I hope she finds peace and help for her anorexia.”
“She is literally knocking on death’s door,” a second X user typed. “That is exceptionally sad.”
The Post reached out to Cooney for comment.
In 2019, Cooney starred in a documentary on YouTuber Shane Dawson’s channel after she had taken a while away from the web to concentrate on her health.
Within the video, she acknowledged that she had an eating disorder and went to rehab, Metro reported.
Previously, in 2016, some fans begged the YouTube star to hunt help for what seemed to be an eating disorder.
A petition, which has since been deleted, was began on Change.org by some viewers who called for her to be banned from YouTube, as her thinness was “triggering to her fan base,” in accordance with a report from Yahoo! Beauty on the time.
“She is probably not intentionally influencing her viewers, but showing greater than 50% of her body in her videos and pictures [is] not helping girls with Anorexia or any eating disorder,” the petition read.
In 2019, she spoke to PAPER Magazine about her journey.
“I used to be never attempting to cause any harm to anyone or asking them to shed extra pounds,” Cooney told the outlet, as she identified that she never spoke about her weight. “But you continue to see people judging you and never realizing that you just don’t have any bad intentions.”
She also added that when individuals are battling with an eating disorder or mental illness, it’s “probably not something” that they decide to have.
“It might be great if the web just tried to be positive to people,” Cooney said. “In the event that they’re concerned, even when the person may not listen immediately, showing concern in a kinder way can be way higher.”
