Elon Musk said Chinese electric automakers will find “significant” success outside of China, at the same time as his firm Tesla faces intense competition from these same corporations.
“The Chinese automobile corporations are essentially the most competitive automobile corporations on the earth. So, I feel they’ll have significant success outside of China depending on what sort of tariffs or trade barriers are established,” Musk said on Tesla’s earnings call on Wednesday.
“Frankly, I feel, if there are usually not trade barriers established, they’ll just about demolish most other corporations on the earth.”
It is not the primary time Musk has heaped praise on Chinese EV makers. Last yr, the billionaire called Chinese EV firms “essentially the most competitive on the earth” and said they’re prone to be among the many world’s top auto corporations.
“If I were to guess … probably some company out of China is the most probably to be second to Tesla,” Musk said.
Tesla’s own shares slid in pre-market trade on Thursday, after the corporate posted earnings that missed expectations and warned of a slowdown in 2024.
