Delta Air Lines has hired a law firm and can seek compensation from Microsoft and CrowdStrike over the global cyber outage earlier this month that disrupted flights all over the world, CNBC reported Monday.
The Atlanta-based airline has been the slowest amongst major US carriers to get better following the tech failure which led to greater than 2,200 flights cancellations on July 19.
Delta has canceled greater than 6,000 flights to this point, leaving lots of of 1000’s of travelers stranded. Analysts estimate that the impact on its bottom line may very well be within the lots of of hundreds of thousands.
The Transportation Department announced last week that it could open an investigation into the carrier, and Delta has stated its intention to cooperate.
Microsoft, Delta and law firm Boies Schiller Flexner didn’t immediately reply to Reuters’ requests for comment.
“We’re aware of the reporting, but haven’t any knowledge of a lawsuit and haven’t any further comment,” a CrowdStrike spokesperson said.
Shares of Crowdstrike were down about 2% in after-hours trading.
