Delta is grounding Basic Economy.
The airline is overhauling its ticket offerings in a bid to offer customers “greater alternative and more customization” — and it’s its most economical offering can be impacted.
But frugal fliers fear not, Delta will still offer the most affordable tier of ticket under a brand new name.
From Oct 1, Basic Economy can be officially often called Delta Major Basic.
“Delta Major Basic offers you the essentials, just as a Basic Economy ticket did before,” a recent statement from the carrier declared.

Customers who go for this cut-price ticket type won’t be entitled to perks corresponding to seat selection or early boarding.
Delta Major Basic is the bottom of the three ticket types offered in economy class.
There will even be Delta Major Classic and Delta Major Extra, the latter of which is able to offer extra air miles.

Meanwhile, Basic Economy isn’t the one ticket type to be renamed.
First Class will soon be often called Delta First, while Comfort+ is being rebranded to Delta Comfort.
Eric Phillips, Delat’s Chief Digital Officer, said the overhaul “gives customers more options and adaptability to choose the travel experience that works best for them, and a full picture of all the advantages of flying with Delta.”
All up, there can be 11 ticket options for patrons:
