The amount of people commenting about the hero (who absolutely deserves credit) are always the one missing the point of why gun regulation is so important. This conversation has nothing to do with gun-free zones. It has everything to do prevention. These shooters unanimously fall under three categories:
1. Male
2. Age: (depends on where the location of the shooting takes place)
a. 40+: Workplace related
b. 18-21: Schools, malls, etc.
3. White
Most of these have now been on the younger side. They seem to have a common reason for acting out these horrendous crimes; the social contagion of killing. These are people that are later found out to be a part of online forums that promote these kinds of acts. They write manifestos and believe they are doing good by committing mass shootings. Another very common thing these terrorists have is the time of purchase of their firearms. It wouldn't surprise me to later find out that this shooter recently bought the weapon before committing the act because it is very common for these shooters now to immediately commit these acts after obtaining their purchase.
Because of all the patterns (age, sex, race, time of purchase of POW, reasoning), there is absolutely no reason to say that gun regulation wouldn't work. We know exactly where we need to put the added security when doing background checks. Sure, there was a hero in this story, but the terrorist was still able to kill 3 too many.

That armed civilian I’m sure was asked if he was interested in being a police officer. Sadly he would reply it won’t pay enough to deal with the trash and hazards. Hazards not being his big concern. A whole restructuring of police is needed, they know there obligations. But a plan to force every obligation is required. Check marks and approved. Fuck you local and federal police.
