Authorities say at least four children are dead after a 15-year-old fatally shot three of their siblings before taking their own life in Fairbanks, Alaska, according to state troopers.

Crooked Alaska
Many commenters here thinking this is a rare event or act surprised, as an Alaskan with a career working with OCS, mental health and substance abuse…We lead the nation in suicide 7 x higher , and domestic violence is double the rate..at one time we were leading in homicides. Many people have moved to Alaska and live on the fringes. Also, drug use and Meth labs are out of control , as well as child abuse cases. People are always quick to blame agencies , or state we need more $$ for services the bottom line is we cannot keep up with the number of mentally ill people in the US, case loads are staggering . Gun laws also make it permissible for these shooting deaths..We need to make parents accountable and charge them with negligence and we also need some sanity with gun control making it difficult to obtain guns and to hold everyone accountable for keeping them locked and secured.

Sorry for this family's lost. But why did he leave the youngest ones alone to live with this horror? Why couldn't he just gone out and harm the woods or such? They're gonna grow up asking why me? Survivors Guilt. RIP

Why did a 15 yr old have access to the "family" gun? What was going on in this family to cause such a tragedy. State Troopers have said the shooting wasn't accidental. Had the parents secured the gun this would not have happened. Just heartbreaking and completely preventable.
Well, something had to have happened while they were growing up. I wonder if the parents were abusive to this kid, and that's why he did what he did, of course, I'm not saying without a shadow of a doubt that I know he was abused, but it's just a question. And I wonder if he was severely mistreated or he was severely abused, that's the only thing that makes any sense to me why he did this, this is so incredibly sad.
