Dave Chappelle’s opening monologue on “Saturday Night Live” was blasted by the pinnacle of the Anti-Defamation League for popularizing anti-Semitism.

“We shouldn’t expect @DaveChappelle to function society’s moral compass, but disturbing to see @nbcsnl not only normalize but popularize #antisemitism.” ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said Sunday.

“Why are Jewish sensitivities denied or diminished at almost every turn? Why does our trauma trigger applause?”

Chappelle’s opening monologue dove into the recent anti-Semitism from rapper Kanye “Ye” West and Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving that has resulted in wide condemnation.

“I denounce anti-Semitism in all its forms and stand with my friends within the Jewish community,” Chappelle started off.

“And that, Kanye, is how you purchase yourself a while.”

Chappelle’s give attention to the subject didn’t stop there.

“I’ve probably been doing this for 35 years now and early in my profession I learned there are two words within the English language it is best to never say together in sequence and people words are ‘The’ and ‘Jews,’” he said. “I never heard someone do good after they said that.”

Chappelle said he grew up around Jewish people and has a whole lot of Jewish friends “so he’s not freaked out by your culture.”

“Why do a few of your people dress like Run-DMC?” he joked in reference to the hip-hop group.

He then mentioned Irving, who’s currently suspended by the Nets after he shared an anti-Semitic film on social media and was slow to apologize for it.

“Kanye got in a lot trouble Kyrie got in trouble,” Chappelle quipped.

“I’ve been to Hollywood — don’t want you to get mad at me, I’m just telling you I’ve been to Hollywood, that is just what I saw,” he also said. “It’s a whole lot of Jews.”

“Like lots. But that doesn’t mean anything, what I mean? There are a whole lot of black people in Ferguson, Missouri, it doesn’t mean we run the place.”

He added the “delusion that Jews run show business” was not crazy to think, but “it’s a crazy thing to say out loud at a time like this.”

Other people over social media put Chappelle on blast for his performance while some defended him.

Jewish rights activist Rudy Rochman called the SNL skit “a meticulous & calculated move to desensitize the population from anti-Semitism” while Time Out Recent York theater editor Adam Feldman argued, “That Dave Chappelle SNL monologue probably did more to normalize anti-Semitism than anything Kanye said.”

But fellow comedian Loni Love gave Chappelle kudos.

“The Dave Chappelle monologue on @snl tonight was the classic rise up he is thought for … current events, timely and funny,” she said in a tweet.
